The Grizzlies used a strong fourth quarter to pull away for a 52-46 road victory. Crater (3-15, 1-7 SOC) trailed by one point entering the final period, but the Grizzlies (13-5, 5-3 SOC) outscored the Comets 17-12 in the quarter. "They wore us out," Crater coach Matt Meunier said. "They spread us out a little and they found some driving lanes. They played a lot of different kids and we’re not as deep." Corey Costantino and Josh Cornelius combined for 12 of the Grizzlies’ 17 points in the fourth quarter. Costantino finished with a team-high 13 points, while Jeff Skinner added 11 and Josh McDermott and Cornelius 10 each. Advertisement "They’re effective because they don’t rely on two or three kids to score every night," said Meunier. "They have so many weapons we couldn’t guard them all." Crater led by six at the end of the opening quarter and trailed 25-23 at intermission. "We played real well defensively in the first half," said Meunier. "We limited them to one shot." The Comets finished with a 38-35 rebounding edge. Sophomore post James Oshel led Crater with 15 points and nine rebounds before fouling out. "(Oshel) is getting a little more aggressive," said Meunier. "He’s learning to accept the role as an impact player." "Overall, we’re seeing improvement as a team," added Meunier. The Pelicans (2-6 SOC), who trailed by 14 at the half, got 14 points from Daniel Bennett, 12 from Seth Hughes and 10 from Alex Foster. The trio drained two apiece from behind the arc. Klamath had seven treys as a team. Eric Thompson sank 16 points for Roseburg (17-1, 7-1 SOC) as the Indians racked up 40 boards and 20 assists. GRANTS PASS 69, EAGLE POINT 44 — At Grants Pass, senior post Jason Nunnemaker scored 17 points for Grants Pass, which improved to 12-7 overall and 6-2 in the Southern Oregon Conference play. Derek Grieve led the Eagles (5-13, 0-8 SOC) with 20 points while Mychal Williams, the third-leading scorer in the SOC at 17.3 points per game, failed to score for the first time this season. Juan Almaraz buried four 3-pointers en route to 16 points for the Eagles, who shot only four free throws. Senior point guard Jake Dastrup added 12 points for Grants Pass and sophomore wing Craig Dolmage had 10.
