Mild weather ahead for Rogue A low-pressure system is on its way out, leaving behind a dusting of fresh snow on the foothills and mountains fringing the east side of the Rogue Valley. According to meteorologist Mike O�Brien of the National Weather Service in Medford, the valley floor remained dry as the system passed by Friday. "There have been periods of sunshine, but it has been basically cloudy (Friday)," he said. As the system heads south into California, the high pressure behind it will linger over the area, bringing mild but sunny days to Southern Oregon that should last until Thursday. "That should bring us more sun and it should be pleasant," O�Brien added. There�s a chance of a storm by Thursday, O�Brien said, but the system expected from the north may be weak enough that it could brush by without much force. Friday, Medford temperatures peaked at 56 degrees, almost in line for the monthly average of 57 degrees. The weather service reports that the total rainfall so far for March, recorded at the Medford Airport, is .42 of an inch. Last year at this time, March rainfall measured .51 of an inch, O�Brien said. Mount Ashland reported receiving 1 inch of snow Friday, bringing the totals up to 53 inches at the base and 74 inches at the summit.
