By JONEL ALECCIA Mail Tribune Someday, the 11-year-old Medford girl may be able to see herself as brave and strong and good. Advertisement Right now, though, she’s just scared and confused. The fifth-grader recently disclosed a terrible secret to a trusted adult: Her mother’s boyfriend has been sexually abusing her. When the mother found out, however, she didn’t believe her daughter. Instead of being supportive, she was angry and accusatory. The girl was removed from the home and placed in foster care. While it was a good move in one way, an advocate says, it was difficult in so many others. Her new caregivers live in another school district and the girl has had to change schools. "Not only has she lost her home and family, but her friends as well," says Jackie Ralph, volunteer coordinator for the Children’s Advocacy Center in Medford. This holiday season, the young girl would appreciate donations of comfort. VHS movies, stationery to write to her friends and warm clothing would be welcome. She likes sweatshirts, Ralph says, and wears a women’s size medium. To help, take donations to the Children’s Advocacy Center, 816 W. 10th St., Medford. Or call 734-5437.
