Oregon reports 282 more COVID-19 cases, 4 deaths By Mail Tribune staff Jul 15, 2020 04:46 PM A A The Oregon Health Authority reported 282 more cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, and four more deaths from the illness. Oregon’s case total rose to 13,081, while the death toll climbed to 247. OHA’s weekly report showed 2,043 new cases of COVID-19 the week of July 6-12, a 7% increase from the week before. “In addition, 22 Oregonians were reported to have died, twice the number who died the preceding week,” the report said. The percentage of positive tests rose from 5% to 6.2%. The number of large outbreaks, or “cases that have a shared, defined exposure with at least one other case,” have deceased each week since June 6, report showed, while “sporadic” cases, or those that “do not have known exposure to another case or outbreak,” have increased. “Though not definitive, a diminishing proportion of cases that are linked to outbreaks, cluster and household spread is consistent with increasingly timely and effective isolation and quarantine messages from public health investigators and tracers,” the report said. Jackson County reported nine new cases Wednesday, bringing the local total to 196. Fifty of the local patients are considered infectious. Sixteen county residents have been hospitalized, but no local deaths have been reported.
