Stella Demo Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Dec. 5, 2014 at 2:00 AM Posted Dec. 5, 2014 at 2:00 AM » Social News Stella Demo, previously of Ashland, passed away November 30, 2014 in a Boise, Idaho hospital. A reception in her honor was held December 4, 2014, which would have been her 92nd birthday. Her wit, strong will, and feistiness followed her to the end. Stella was born December 4, 1922, in her parents' farmhouse outside Rake, Iowa. She attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa School of Nursing. In Iowa City, Iowa on July 6, 1946, she married Rex "Sam" Demo, and they moved to Medford, Ore. that same year. She was extremely proud of her Norwegian heritage with strong ties to the Lutheran Church. She had several passions in her life: Her nursing career which encompassed surgery, orthopedics, public health, and home nursing instruction in the Medford City schools. She was a member of the Oregon Nurses Association and served a term as president. Her membership in the Order of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile in which she served as queen. Sewing, crocheting, knitting, embroidering, quilting, and anything utilizing fabric and craft items. Stella was preceded in death by her husband Rex "Sam" in 1985. Surviving are her daughters, Pam Demo (Dick Schultz), Dian Saito (Al), and Rhonda Mathews (Baron); two granddaughters, Barrett Dasenbrock (Mike) and Kirby Colburn (Mitch); and one great-granddaughter, Brooke Dasenbrock; and another little Dasenbrock on the way. Her chosen charity is the Shriners Hospital for Children, Fairfax Rd. at Virginia St., in Salt Lake City, Utah, 84103.
