Jason Allison, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 6:30 p.m. crash near Murphy, Oregon State Police said. Both Allison and another occupant of the 4-Runner, Daniel Walker Jr., 25, of Williams, landed in the road after being ejected from the vehicle. Walker remained hospitalized late Tuesday at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass, where he was listed in fair condition, a hospital spokeswoman said. Neither man was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, police said. Walker told investigators he was not the driver of the 4-Runner, OSP Lt. Tanya Henderson said. Police plan to reconstruct the scene in hopes of confirming or refuting Walker’s statement, she said. Advertisement "That’s the main issue," Henderson said. If investigators determine Walker was the vehicle’s driver, he could face criminal charges in connection with the wreck, Henderson said. A witness told police the 4-Runner was speeding just before the crash. Henderson said blood tests should show whether Walker or Allison had consumed alcohol or drugs in the hours preceding the wreck. Police say the exact year of the late-90s model 4-Runner is not known, since the vehicle was not registered and had license plates belonging to another vehicle. The 4-Runner was not stolen, Henderson said. Now that the vehicle has been towed from the crash scene, police must obtain a search warrant before inspecting its contents. Henderson said the probe into Monday night’s wreck may be slowed because OSP is also investigating a fatal accident that killed a pair of Modoc County, Calif., teens Sunday on Highway 140 near Fish Lake. Travis Michael Boswell, 17, and Zachary Keith Delong, 15, both of Canby, Calif., died after a 1988 Acura Integra in which they were passengers flipped, police said. Two other Canby teens involved in the wreck remained hospitalized late Tuesday at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford. Peter Torri-Ezikiel Mejia, 14, was listed in critical condition, while the driver of the Integra, Jonathan Michael Demean, 16, was listed in fair condition, a nursing supervisor said.
