Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend December 29, 2005 Crater rebounds with rout of Glencoe Girls Basketball LAKE OSWEGO — Crater followed up its worst game of the season with its best and routed Glencoe 60-33 Wednesday in the Nike-Laker Interstate Shootout at Lake Oswego High School. Crater turned up the intensity on defense from the outset, preventing Glencoe from reaching double figures in a quarter until the final stanza, when reserves played much of the way. On offense, the Comets had one of their best shooting games while improving to 6-2. They made half of their dozen 3-point attempts. The win sends Crater against Lakeridge today at 1 p.m. Lakeridge is coached by former Ashland mentor Heather Roberts. A day earlier, Crater had been manhandled by Lincoln, 53-40. "Yesterday was probably our worst game of the year," said Comets coach David Heard. "We had a heart-to-heart about the whole thing and talked about finding out who we are. We have to try to figure that out by the end of the week because we start league next week. Advertisement "We did some soul searching and, one way or another, we decided this means something and we came out ready to play today." Crater held Glencoe to only six field goals in the first three quarters, including one in the third. The Comets doubled up the Crimson Tide, 32-16, by halftime, then outscored it 20-4 in the third. The lead ballooned to 40 before Glencoe’s press allowed it a small run late in the game. Emily Brookins scored 12 points, and Kelsey Holderness had 11 points and nine rebounds. Crater had been outrebounded by 20 the day before but held a 45-18 edge over the Tide. Guard Kenna Reiter had eight boards. NORTH MEDFORD 54, CLACKAMAS 50 — At Lake Oswego, North Medford (6-1) forced 27 turnovers and outrebounded Clackamas 39-17 at the Nike-Laker Interstate Shootout. Erica Schultz had 16 points and Megan Ross 11 points, seven rebounds and four steals for the Black Tornado, which led 33-24 at halftime. Sam Heim led North — which had more offensive rebounds (19) than Clackamas had in total — with nine boards. Clackamas closed the gap in the second half in part because the Tornado was 10 of 25 on free throws. Heater, benefiting from Jamie Roupp’s fine guard play, made 11 of 13 field goals and added eight rebounds. Roupp had eight points and eight assists. Ashland plays South Eugene for the title today.
