Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend October 20, 2004 Police identify man who fled pot garden Police are still looking for a Cave Junction man who escaped last week after being handcuffed in the woods near a marijuana-growing operation. Tuesday, they learned the fugitive’s correct identity. Glen Mitchel Parrish, 24, is the man who approached Josephine County drug agents while armed with a loaded assault rifle following a raid on a marijuana garden in the 900 block of Takilma Road near Cave Junction, sheriff’s Sgt. Ken Selig said. Police disarmed Parrish and handcuffed him, but he ran away when a sheriff’s deputy stepped about 10 yards away from him. Parrish, who carried no identification, told police before he fled that he was Charles Parrish, who is actually his older brother. Deputies realized they had been looking for the wrong man after speaking this week with Charles Parrish, Selig said. The Parrish brothers are similar in appearance, Selig explained. Each has short blond hair and weighs about 165 pounds. Glen Parrish is 5 feet 9 inches tall and was last seen wearing a green T- shirt with the words "Born in the USA" printed on it. He was also wearing black and blue pants, along with red and white tennis shoes. Advertisement Drug agents confiscated eight growing marijuana plants at the site. Also arrested in the raid was Russell Alan McCarthy, 23. Glen Parrish is wanted on charges of manufacturing, delivering and possessing marijuana, unlawful use of a weapon, second-degree escape and providing a false name to police. He also faces a felony charge of endangering an aircraft in connection with an August 2003 incident in which he failed to show up in court after being cited for using a large mirror to reflect the sun’s rays into the eyes of a pilot flying a surveillance operation for the Josephine Marijuana Eradication Team, Selig said. Police believe Parrish is armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to telephone the Josephine County sheriff’s office at 541-474-5123 or 541-474-5160.
