Flossie Pellett Spence Friday Sep 29, 2000 at 2:00 AM Dec 17, 2010 at 6:02 AM Flossie Pellett Spence, 90, of Rogue River, died Monday (Sept. 25, 2000) at Three Fountains Nursing Center. No service is planned. Inurnment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation, Hospice, 691 Murphy Road, Suite 236, Medford, OR 97504. She was born Jan. 28, 1910, in Scottsbluff, Neb., a daughter of Andrew J. and Aurora (Eichelberger) Hughes. In 1981, in Reno, Nev., she married Russell Spence, who died in 1994. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Woodland, Calif., and lived in Grants Pass from 1950-1984, when she moved to Rogue River. Mrs. Spence worked as a dry cleaner and as a beautician. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, bingo and cards. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Berry, Medford; a brother, David Hughes, Eugene; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Pellett, in 1980; her second husband, Russell Spence, in 1994; and her son, Robert Pellett. Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford. — The family and friends of Luther M. Sonny Jacobson Sr. will gather for an open house all day Saturday at his home. Mr. Jacobson, 77, of White City, died Wednesday (Sept. 27, 2000) at his home. He was born Sept. 27, 1923, in Medford, a son of Albert and Elizabeth (Trefren) Jacobson. On Feb. 14, 1946, in Shanghai, China, he married Olga Castro, who survives. He lived in the Rogue Valley all his life. Mr. Jacobson was a logger and small engine mechanic. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Jacobson was a hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed working in his yard. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Linda Cutting, White City; two sons, Luther Jr., Salem; and Patrick, White City; a sister, Mary Vail, Phoenix; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Peggy Johns, Betty Hart and Philena Cleveland. Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home, Medford. — Valmire Maternus Albert The memorial service for Valmire Maternus Albert will be at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church. The Rev. Jim Clifford will officiate. Mr. Albert, 85, of Central Point, died Tuesday (Sept. 26, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus, 772 Black Oak Drive, Medford, OR 97504, or the Oregon Hunters Association, 800 Bennett Ave., Medford, OR 97504. He was born June 18, 1915, in Butte Falls, a son of George and Mary Dupray Albert. He married Rachael Lucille Cave, who preceded him in death. He lived in Butte Falls, Medford and Central Point. Mr. Albert owned and operated Al's Trading Post, as well as a furniture repair shop. He served in the U.S. Army from 1935-1938. Mr. Albert was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd and 4th degree. He was also a charter member of the Oregon Hunters Association since 1984, and was a member of Mended Hearts. Survivors include two sons, Valton G., Central Point, and Allan Ray, Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Bunny Bain, Medford, and Krista Louise Albert-Tower, Portland; two brothers, Cyril, Jacksonville, Fla., and Adrian, Sacramento, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care, Central Point. — Carmela McCarthy Carmela McCarthy, 67, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday (Sept. 27, 2000) at her home.
