She was born in Valier, Penn. before her family moved to Punxatawney, Penn..When she was about 12 years old, the family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where her mother worked as a housekeeper, and Josephine and her sister, Marie looked for work during the Depression. She met Michael Sembric and they were married in 1942, having one son, Ray, and raising Michael's son from a previous marriage, Michael Donald. Michael worked as a building contractor and Josephine worked as a volunteer cook in the kitchen of St. Francis of Assisi school in Gates Mills, Ohio. She always said those were the happiest times of her life, cooking for all the kids. In 1960 the family moved to Woodland Hills, Calif., where Michael owned a service station and Josephine was a stay-at-home mom and wife. Michael passed away in 1983 and Josephine took a part-time job as a caregiver to an elderly gentleman. In 2003, she moved with her son, Ray, to Medford, Ore. where she spent her final days. She always had a love for people, especially little children, and dogs. She was a tremendous cook and loved to cook for large gatherings of friends and family. She was a beautiful and loving Mom, wife, and friend to so many. She will be greatly missed! Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Michael; brother, Anthony Pollino; and sister, Marie Lorenzo. A memorial service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Chatsworth, Calif.
