PREP BASEBALL Six-run fourth inning propels North Valley MERLIN -- Four doubles led to six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as North Valley kept its playoff hopes alive with a 12-5 triumph over Rogue River. Sam Jarrett, Justin Sullivan, Scott Butterbaugh and Cory Pedersen all doubled in the outburst, while North Valley (14-8, 11-7 Skyline) took advantage of two walks and a passed ball. North Valley travels to Klamath Falls for a doubleheader Friday against Mazama and then wraps up its Skyline slate Tuesday at home. The twin bill was scheduled for Saturday, but postponned because of a bomb threat at Illinois Valley High. Theron Hull led Phoenix (16-5, 12-5 Sky) in the doubleheader with five hits and six RBIs. Drew Pierson added five hits and five RBIs and Abe Lupkin went 5-for-6 with three RBIs for the Pirates on the day.
