However, I never heard when he would be executed. Can you give me more information on this case? — Ken O., Medford Robert James Acremant is one of 32 death row inmates at the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem. None have execution dates anywhere in the near future, said Kevin Neely, spokesman for the Oregon Department of Justice. Acremant’s case is in the first stages of appeal to the Oregon Supreme Court, a four- to five-year process, Neely said. Acremant was sentenced to death in October 1997 for the murders of Ellis and Abdill, but his appeal may have been delayed because he wanted to proceed without an attorney, a request that was denied, Neely said. Acremant left the penitentiary’s custody between May 1999 and October 2002 to stand trial in California for the 1995 killing of Visalia resident Scott George. While Medford police were investigating the murders of Ellis and Abdill, Acremant told them where they would find George’s body, and admitted to shooting Scott George in the head and heart. While California jurors found Acremant guilty in August 2002 and also voted to put him to death, the state of Oregon will perform Acremant’s execution.
