"They played very well in the second through fourth games," said Roseburg coach Bruce Myers, whose team fell to 3-1 in the conference. "They played very good defense, and their ball control was obviously much better than ours." Ashland is 4-0 in league. Chey Hale had 10 kills for the Grizzlies, Tessa Maurer nine kills and 12 digs and Megan Beugli six kills to go with 35 assists. Roseburg (7-1 overall) got 15 kills from Kristen Bitter, 22 assists from Lindsy Bartholomew and 14 digs from Natalie Hooper. EAGLE POINT 25-27-23-25-17, CRATER 20-29-25-14-16 — At Central Point, Eagle Point won the SOC match but the outcome was disputed because of an apparently incorrect ruling. In the fifth game, a 17-point cap was enforced, meaning the first team to 17, in this case Eagle Point, was declared the winner. However, the Oregon School Activities Association Web site states that a team must win the fifth game by two points; there is no cap. Crater coach Leaf Jensen said afterward he would protest the ruling. The decisive fifth game saw six lead changes and two ties. Crater led 16-15 before the Eagles scored the final two points. Eagle Point was paced by middle Ashley Curtis’ 17 kills. Setter Aubrey Harrington added 11 kills and 42 assists. Senior outside Erin Kinney sparked the Comets with 11 kills, and senior middle Crystal Huntley chipped in 10 kills and five blocks. NORTH MEDFORD 25-25-25, KLAMATH UNION 8-15-15 — North Medford enjoyed one of its finest serving efforts in the SOC win. Jessica Walters served nine points in the first game, Susie Rench did likewise in the second and Allanah Munson served points 12-23 in the third. In her first start as defensive specialist, Susie Beers passed well, while Walters also had 10 kills and three blocks and Rench six kills and three aces. SOUTH MEDFORD 26-25-25, GRANTS PASS 24-18-23 — At Grants Pass, South Medford picked up its first SOC win behind 10 kills from Christine Meyerding and 20 assists from Stephanie Anderberg. Jenny Brennan added seven kills and eight blocks for the Panthers (5-7, 1-3 SOC). For Grants Pass (0-4 SOC), Erin Glovinsky had seven kills and seven blocks, Katie Tardieu seven kills and Ashley Franco five digs.
