Ben Rice and the Illamatics May 30, 2014 12:00 AM A A Blues singer and guitarist Ben Rice and the Illamatics — drummer Ryan Runstrum and bassist Calen Uhlig — combine rockabilly, funk, roots blues and rock to bring a vintage blues sound into the modern era. The Portland trio represented the Cascade Blues Association at this year's International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tenn. and placed in the top nine acts out of a total 250. Ben Rice and the Illamatics will play songs off of Rice's newest CD, "Pour Me Some Whiskey," at 9 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Howiee's on Front, 16 N. Front St., Medford. The cover is free.
