Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend August 16, 2005 Meth Watch: Police say suspect distributed meth EDITOR’S NOTE: Crime Stoppers of Southern Oregon, in cooperation with the Mail Tribune and KTVL Channel 10, is participating in "Meth Watch," a program intended to combat the manufacture and sales of methamphetamine in Southern Oregon. Each week, Meth Watch will focus on a person wanted by Jackson or Josephine county law-enforcement agencies for delivery and/or manufacture of methamphetamine. Steven Eugene Granger is wanted by Medford police for failure to appear in Jackson County Circuit Court on charges of manufacturing and delivering meth within 1,000 feet of a school, manufacturing and delivering meth and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Granger was indicted in July 2004. The warrant was issued after he posted bail and was released from jail in May and did not show up for a scheduled court date. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department also holds a warrant for Granger’s arrest alleging failure to appear on a charge of possessing meth. Bail on the two warrants is $40,000. Granger is described as a white man, 54 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds. He has blond hair, blue eyes and scars on his chest, face, and near his right eye. He also may be wearing reading glasses. The picture shown in today’s newspaper was taken in June. Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case or any other unsolved criminal activity. Callers can remain anonymous. Advertisement METH STATISTICS: In conjunction with Meth Watch, the Mail Tribune is compiling weekly statistics to demonstrate the effects of methamphetamine on our community. Arrests — Twenty-five people were arrested last week and lodged in the Jackson County Jail on methamphetamine-related charges. Twenty-one were arrested for possessing meth, two were arrested for possessing and delivering meth, one was arrested for possessing, delivering and manufacturing meth and one was arrested for delivering and manufacturing meth within 1,000 feet of a school, delivering meth and marijuana and possessing meth. Eleven arrests were in conjunction with other criminal charges. Court appearances — Six people appeared in Jackson County Circuit Court last week on methamphetamine-related charges. Five had been indicted on charges of possessing meth, and one had been indicted on charges of possessing, delivering and manufacturing meth. Four defendants’ indictments included other criminal charges. Child welfare — The local child welfare office of the state’s Department of Human Services removed 10 children from seven homes last week and placed them into protective custody due to methamphetamine use in the family. Addiction recovery — Twenty methamphetamine addicts entered outpatient treatment last week at OnTrack Inc. Three meth addicts completed inpatient treatment last week at Addictions Recovery Center (ARC). Four people were admitted last week to ARC's sobering center while under the influence of meth.
