The Regulators came back from a 10-point, third-quarter deficit to defeat Lord of the Rims from the Portland area for the title. The state title qualifies the team for the AAU national tournament July 5-10 at Clarksville, Tenn. The Regulators are made up of players from North Medford, South Medford and Crater High Schools. The team is coached by Jerry Ellis. Advertisement Josh Pecktol led the team in scoring during an opening win over Cash Money from Eugene. Then the Regulators defeated the Barbers from Clackamas and the Sharks from Eugene to advance to the title game. Jordan Ellis was the team's leading scorer in the tournament. Other players on the squad are: Kirii Ross, Tevin Faust, Miles Petersen, Sam McLaughlin, Josh Lokeno and Travis Robbins. Bowling Talea Whitehead rolled a Triplicate 143 in the GoodSports League on April 6 at Lava Lanes. With a 162 average, Brian Blackwell spun a game of 278 at Lava Lanes on April 6 in the GoodSports League. Golf Eric Linerud used a 19-degree rescue wood to score a hole in one on the 213-yard fourth hole at Centennial Golf Club recently. The shot was witnessed by Larry Lilze and Eric Bottero. Gymnastics America's Best Kids competitor Eric Jopson won the all-around championship in the Regional Championships held in Boise, Idaho, last weekend. Jopson, a seventh-grader at Scott Valley Junior High in Etna, Calif., scored a 55.775 in all-around, and added winning scores of 9.6 in pommel horse and 9.65 in vault. Swimming Breanna Sapienza of the Superior Stingray Swimming Club was selected as a member of the Oregon All-Star Team which will compete in the Island Long Course Invitational Swim Meet in Victoria, British Columbia, April 20-22. The Grace Christian fifth-grader is one of eight 11-12-year-olds and the lone all-star of Southern Oregon. Sapienza qualified in the butterfly and freestyle and will swim in six total events.
