A male hospital employee was walking toward his car at about 8:35 p.m. Friday when he was approached by two men on the second floor of an RVMC parking garage in the 2800 block of East Barnett Road, Medford police Lt. Tim George said. One of the suspects threatened the hospital worker after producing a Buck knife with a 6-inch blade. "He told (the hospital employee) he was going to cut him if he didn’t give up the car keys," George said. The RVMC employee complied with the request, and the suspects got into his 1993 Ford Taurus. They abandoned the vehicle seconds later, after realizing it was nearly out of gas, George said. "These stranger-to-stranger crimes are a concern to us," he said. "We’re wondering why they were in such a hurry to get out of there." During the alleged carjacking, he wore a royal blue ski jacket and a red, white and blue baseball cap. The second suspect is described as a tall, white male in his mid- to late 20s with a thin build. He wore a dark-colored sweatshirt and baggy shorts that hung below his knees. If arrested, the two men could face charges of first-degree robbery, menacing and unlawful use of a vehicle, police said. Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to phone the Medford Police Department at 774-2231.
