The Cardinals (11-0), champions of the Portland Interscholastic League, racked up 322 yards on the ground on 56 carries, a 5.8-yards-per-attempt clip. Edmund Slevin had 29 carries for 157 yards and scored on runs of 59 and 13 yards. Chris Burns had 70 yards on only four carries, scoring from 28 yards. He also had Lincoln's only pass completion, a 24-yard touchdown to Brandon Leitgeb. Lincoln advances to the quarterfinals against Sherwood, a 41-20 winner over Tigard. Grants Pass ended the season with an 8-3 record. The Cavemen were Southwest Conference runners-up. Lincoln built a 21-0 lead in the third quarter before Cameron Castle got the Cavers on the scoreboard with a 6-yard run. His 95-yard kickoff return in the fourth accounted for Grants Pass' other points. Boys Water Polo MT. VIEW 6, ASHLAND 4: At Corvallis, Erik Oline scored two goals and Vincent Wright had 10 blocks and two steals, but Ashland fell in the state semifinals. Also for Ashland, Devon Lancaster had a goal and three steals and Finn Griffin a goal and five steals. The Grizzlies will play Hood River today at 10 a.m. for third place. Girls Water Polo MT. VIEW 13, ASHLAND 1: At Corvallis, Izzy Nicolier had 10 blocks and Laurel Tappert eight steals for Ashland in the state semifinals. Amelia Covert Zeve added two steals, Leah Dacus one goal and Fiona Johnson one steal for the Grizzlies, who play Hood River at 11:15 today for third place.
