COUNTY FAIR “Jackson County is going to have a county fair this year and success of the woman’s department of the fair depends upon the women of the county,” says a bulletin to the women of the farm bureau recently sent out by Miss Florence Pool, County Home Demonstration Agent. “Last year the canned fruits, vegetables, fish and meats prepared by the women of Jackson County helped to win first place for the county at the state fair. “The plan this year is to select our canned exhibit for the state fair from the county fair exhibit. I know that you are interested in Jackson County making a good showing at Salem this year. Therefore, I am writing the women over the county through the various clubs to help out in the county fair and also the exhibit to be sent to the state fair. “We want uniform cans for the state fair exhibit, so we have selected any type of glass top jar in pint, or quart sizes. Would like the jelly, jam and preserves in 3 1/2-inch high clear jelly glasses. We want canned berries of all kinds, strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, huckleberry, loganberry, other canned fruits, vegetables, fish and meats of all kinds. Want them labeled with name of variety on bottom of jar. “Will you plan as a club and also as individuals to take some part int he woman’s exhibit for the county fair? This not only includes the canned exhibit, but the textiles, art, etc. Plan to exhibit something in the canned exhibit that can be used in the Jackson County state fair exhibit.” MEDFORD MAY SECURE COAST ART EXHIBIT The Western Association of Art Museum Directors have several fine loan exhibits, the work of coast artists which are sent to all the large cities from Kansas City to the coast. Mr. Samuel J. Hume, director of the Greek theater, University of California, who is secretary of this organization, will be here Monday, June 26, to tell us about these exhibits. The public will be given an unusual opportunity to learn about our coast artists, and Medford may be fortunate enough to secure some of these exhibits. — Alissa Corman; [email protected]
