It is very loud, stupid and not funny. I have to mute my TV when it comes on because it is so loud. I hope the Charter people read these letters; the commercial is not helping sell your cable service. Virginia Kennedy Butte Falls Drug laws don't work The last time I renewed my prescription for Vicodin tablets was March 7, 2013. It took me 39 months to run out of 56 tablets, so I called my doctor for a refill. Three days later I was told I had to have the prescription written on a, “hard copy,” which means I had to drive from Eagle Point to South Medford and back. I had to show my ID to get the hard copy, then I had to show my ID when I dropped off the prescription to my pharmacy. Then I had to wait over an hour to get my Vicodin prescription filled. I also have to pay a Pain Management Specialist to determine I’m not a Vicodin abuser or I won’t get another refill. Unbelievable! In the meantime, some illegal immigrant “imported” 50,000 pharmacy-grade Vicodin tablets over our border to sell on Oregon’s black market. It would have cost me more, but it would be much easier to get my Vicodin via the illegal drug trade — and they probably would have been delivered to my door! Carl F. Worden Eagle Point No smoking gun I followed the congressional committee hearings where Hillary Clinton was questioned, for eight hours, on the fracas in Benghazi, and learned nothing about any "smoking gun" that Bill Hartley referred to in his letter in the June 9 issue of the Tribune. Mentioning that he switched back and forth between the hearings and Fox News, I assume this piece of incrimination was something he heard on the latter, which regularly distorts its news coverage depending on what "message" Fox News head Roger Ailes wants its programming to put out during the day. Contrary to Mr. Hartley's letter, I felt that Mrs. Clinton held up splendidly during the hearing, but agree with him that it would be a good idea to keep careful watch on the news during the coming months, since presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump is already, as of this writing, making wild, unsubstantiated statements about wrongdoing involving Mrs. Clinton's private email while she was serving as secretary of state. As citizens, we need to be properly informed in order to make an assured decision on who to vote for in what is looking to be the most important U.S. presidential election in years.
