The big movies opening this week are “Chappie,” an R sci-fi thriller from director Neill Blomkamp that stars Sharlto Copley, Dev Patel, Hugh Jackman and Sigourney Weaver; “The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,” a PG comedy-drama starring Judi Dench and Maggie Smith; and “Unfinished Business,” an R comedy starring Vince Vaughn, Dave Franco, Tom Wilkinson and James Marsden. 2. National Cereal Day is Saturday. This tasty day is a time to enjoy your favorite cereal(s) - and not just for breakfast! What’s your all-time favorite cereal? Froot Loops? Grape Nuts? Shredded Wheat? Let us know! 3. There’s plenty of sports on tap this weekend, with the NBA and NHL seasons in the homestretch, and the third race of the NASCAR season. Check your newspaper for TV listings, or head to your preferred sports website. 4. Early Sunday, time springs ahead one hour. So this means you’re losing an hour this time (the extra light is nice, but we need our sleep!). Make a game of changing clocks — and don’t forget to change the batteries in your smoke detectors — drink some warm milk, watch a boring movie and try to go to bed early. Or stay up later than usual, in defiance of the time change, and let morning you deal with the consequences. 5. Sunday is International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate women’s rights issues and highlight ongoing struggles. Some local places might have events for the day, so check the paper for listings, or call around.
