South Eugene routs Tornado From staff reports BEAVERTON -- Third-ranked South Eugene had little trouble beating North Medford Wednesday night as the Black Tornado girls suffered from a shooting slump in the semifinal round of the Cascade Holiday Hoop Festival. The Black Tornado only shot 2-for-24 from the field in the first half of the game and failed to get a field goal in the second quarter en route to a 49-28 defeat. "You're not going to win ball games shooting eight percent from the field in the first half," North Medford coach Mike Kay said. North trailed 19-7 at halftime, and could only muster six points in the third quarter against a talented South Eugene squad. Ashlee Giles and Tressa Manwaring paced the Black Tornado (7-2) with eight points each.
