The event will be held at the site of its new building at 650 Mistletoe Road. The opening also marks the revival of the company, which has been in temporary space following a major fire in 2012. Formerly doing business as Alchemical Solutions, the company is a certified micro-distillery founded in 2001 as the first of its kind in Oregon. The company, founded by Aaren Glover, provides pharmaceutical-grade alcohol to manufacturers of herbal and food extracts and producers of organic health, beauty and beverage products. The ceremony will also mark the first company to set up business in the Jackson County Enterprise Zone in Ashland. Supported by the city of Ashland and the Ashland Chamber of Commerce, the county Board of Commissioners applied for an expansion of its enterprise zone and received approval in March 2013 from Business Oregon. Organic Alcohol Company, which had been operating in temporary space, can take advantage of the expanded enterprise zone incentive, available to companies that add new capital investment and increase their employment by at least 10 percent. The incentive offsets property taxes on new capital investments for 3-5 years, helping to reduce the initial expenses to the company, in exchange for the creation of new jobs. Organic Alcohol Company officials say the new state-of-the-art building will allow them to sustain 100 percent year-over-year growth. According to a release from the Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development agency, a second company, Big Tree Farms, also based in the Mistletoe Road Business Park, has filed an enterprise zone application. The two projects combined represent new capital investment of $1.6 million and eight new jobs. The cities of Talent and Eagle Point have also added properties into the expanded enterprise zone. SOREDI Executive Director Ron Fox, said in the release that the enterprise zone expansion not only helps gain the attention of outside companies seeking to relocate to the region, but also helps Southern Oregon gain visibility among national site consultants who have consistently recommended stronger regional collaboration, given that the region's communities share the same labor pool. “We are thrilled,” Fox said in the release, "that Ashland, Talent and Eagle Point have taken this proactive step to be regionally engaged and open to new and expanding business development.” The companies and enterprise zone organizers worked with Mistletoe Road Business Park developer Mark DiRienzo to establish the designation for the site.
