Genealogy Week classes run Sept. 17-23 By Mail Tribune staff Sep 06, 2022 12:00 AM A A Volunteers at the Rogue Valley Genealogical Society Library in south Medford field a steady stream of research questions and random drop-offs of old photos and records on a weekly basis. In an effort to pass along their skills to the public, the library offers a week of free classes each fall. The popular week of freebies, dubbed Genealogy Week, will cover everything from old, yellowed paper records to the vast array of resources on the World Wide Web. This year’s Genealogy Week features 12 classes Sept.17-23. Classes and times are: Sept. 17, 1:30 p.m. - Intro to Genealogy Sept. 19, 10:30 a.m. - Intro to Genealogy Sept. 19, 1:30 p.m. - Organize Your Paper Files Sept. 20, 10:30 a.m. - Using newspaperarchive.com Sept. 20, 6 p.m. - Newspaper Research Sept. 21, 10:30 a.m. - Researching Ancestors in FamilySearch Sept. 21, 1:30 p.m. - Your Genealogy Toolbox Sept. 22, 10:30 a.m. - Brick Wall Busting Sept. 22, 1:30 p.m. - Organizing Your Digital Files Sept. 22, 6 p.m. - Digging into U.S. Censuses Sept. 23, 10:30 a.m. - Genealogy Jargon Sept. 23, 1:30 p.m. - Researching Your Ancestors in Ancestry The library also hosts various classes on topics such as genetic genealogy and family tree software, online and in person.
