Moderate terrain, brisk pace. No ride leader. Saturday: A Siskiyou Velo Club 25- to 30-mile ride begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Ashland Dog Park. Ride proceeds to Orchards Loop, with coffee in Talent. Moderate terrain, mellow pace. Ride leader: James Williams, 857-9037. Sunday: A Siskiyou Velo Club 55-mile ride begins at 8 a.m. at the Roasting Company in Ashland. Lakes loop ride. Difficult terrain, brisk pace. Ride leader: Chris Haynes, 772-9220. Aug. 19: A Siskiyou Velo Club 60-mile ride begins at 8:30 a.m. at the BLM administration site at Hyatt Reservoir. Lakes loop. Aug. 26: A Siskiyou Velo Club 85-mile ride begins at 8:30 a.m. at Colver Park in Talent and goes to Grants Pass via the Applegate, Murphy, Rogue River and Gold Hill. Moderate terrain, brisk pace. Ride leader: Jerry Rhodes, 512-2155. Aug. 27: A Siskiyou Velo Club 50-plus mile ride begins at 9 a.m. at the Buck Prairie Summit. Ride proceeds to Dead Indian Memorial Road, Forest Service Road 37, Highway 140 and Lake of the Woods. Moderate terrain, mellow pace. Ride leader: Bob Korfhage, 535-5276. Hiking Saturday: The Sierra Club plans a moderate to strenuous 10- to 12-mile hike in the Crater Lake area. Information: 560-1106 Sunday: The Sierra Club plans a strenuous 12-mile hike to Towhead Lake from Cook and Green Pass in the Red Buttes Wilderness Area. The group will leave Medford at 7:30 a.m. Information: 734-7982. Aug. 19: The Sierra Club plans a moderate 6- to 8-mile hike to the top of Watchman's Tower at Crater Lake. Information: 245-6380 or 488-8517. Aug. 20: The Sierra Club plans a strenuous 12-mile hike on Seven Lakes Trail and Pacific Crest Trail to Upper Snow Lakes in the Sky Lakes Wilderness Area. Aug. 20: Klamath-Siskyou Wildlands Center will host a hike in the Knob timber sale area to view the old-growth timber that may be auctioned for logging this summer. Carpools will leave Evo's Java Lounge, 376 E. Main St., Ashland, at 8:30 a.m. Hikers should bring hiking shoes, clothing layers, food and water. Wednesday: Cross Country Summer Series at Bear Creek Amphitheater, 7:30 p.m. Registration for 5-kilometer and 2-kilometer events is day of race from 6:30-7:15 p.m. Cost is $2 for students under 18, $3 for Southern Oregon Sizzlers members and $4 for all other participants.
