South boys take second at tourney CORVALLIS - South Medford demonstrated good balance in placing second at the five-school Corvallis Invitational boys golf tournament Wednesday. The Panthers had four players post an 81 in cool, rainy conditions at the par-72 Trysting Tree Golf Course. Tualatin, a favorite to win the boys Class 4A state championship, won the tournament with a 297 total. Runner-up South Medford recorded a 327, just two shots ahead of third-place Sprague. Tualatin's Cole Peyton fired a even-par 72 for medalist honors. South's Noah Horstman, Brodie Sullivan and Nick Nieto each carded rounds of 81. Girls Golf DISTRICT 6 - Katie Mania shot a 14-over-par 84 under cold, showery conditions at Quail Point Golf Course to lead the St. Mary's girls to a decisive victory. Jodi Luce added an 85 for the Crusaders, who totaled 383 strokes and beat runner-up Hidden Valley by 69 strokes. ST.
