Photo by Mark Freeman State's pheasant program eliminated BUTTE FALLS - Karen Pierce pulled back the lid on the plastic cage, sending more than a dozen Sichuan pheasants bolting skyward in single file toward the scrub-oak hills outside Butte Falls. The final few, scared pheasants had to be pulled by hand from the cage and tossed skyward to flight, leaving behind an exhaust trail of feathers and guano. (more . . .)   Indoor sports arena opening Saturday By GREG STILES This weekend marks the end of a three-year journey for Ron Clark and the beginning of a new era for Southern Oregon indoor athletics. The Valley Floor Sports Arena opens its doors Saturday and Sunday for free open soccer play. But soccer is just the main course in what Clark and partner Henry Keesee envision for the 33,000-square-foot arena.
