Think again. With a month to go before the libraries are scheduled to close, Jackson County — and Medford specifically — have made the national news twice that I know of in regards to the closures. Jones Says: March 11th, 2007 at 3:54 pm I am saddened by the thought of the local libraries closing. I’ve lived all over the country and the local library has been a cornerstone of the community. I feel as though our society has changed so much, that the value of reading has fallen to the wayside. While I also enjoy watching a couple tv shows and movies, book reading is so much more enriching. It’s a shame that more people don’t feel the same way. I certainly would never want to live in such a place. How about a special parcel tax to help offset the cost of the lbraries? Several other jurisdictions already do that.
