Even better news for the Panthers was the return of star senior Kaylyn Knutson, who has been out of action with tendinitis in her knee. Knutson performed well in her first meet of the season by winning the long jump with an SOC season-best mark of 16-feet, 8½ -inches. It was Knutson’s only event in the meet. "We’re gradually working (Knutson) back into the program," South Medford coach Bill Rowan said. "We’re hopeful to work her into some other things as we go along." Knutson is the defending conference champion in the long jump and 200 meters. South’s Tony DeSimone turned in a big effort in the triple jump with the second-best SOC mark of the season at 41-9½ .
