Deputies will be watching for drunk drivers Super Bowl weekend

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office will have more deputies on the roads during Super Bowl weekend looking for impaired drivers. Additional patrols hit the streets Friday and will remain through Sunday. The enhanced police presence is being funded by a grant, according to a sheriff’s news release. Police are encouraging drivers to plan ahead before hitting the road. “Once you know where you’ll celebrate, decide whether you’re drinking or driving — choose only one,” the release says. Sheriff’s officials recommend saving the number of a friend or cab company in your phone so you always have a backup. Vehicle passengers should only accept rides from sober drivers. Police encourage people to report drivers they suspect of impairment.
