Alleged false report leads to break in break-in case Tyler Sweet, left and Arthur Summers are suspects in a string of Ashland car break-ins. Wednesday May 3, 2017 at 6:28 PM May 3, 2017 at 6:30 PM A man who reported his car stolen after allegedly eluding police last weekend is also one of two suspects police have named in a string of April car break-ins in Ashland. On Wednesday, Ashland police arrested Tyler Dale Sweet, 25, on a felony theft charge and numerous misdemeanors after a search warrant on his car yielded stolen property believed to be tied to a string of thefts from vehicles April 5 through April 30, police said. Sweet allegedly reported his car stolen about 3:45 a.m. Sunday, roughly half an hour after Ashland police spotted suspicious activity in a residential neighborhood involving gardening equipment and saw the car speed away, according to a release. A second patrol officer attempted to stop the vehicle. Police were able to refute Sweet's report, the release says, and Sweet began cooperating with detectives upon further questioning at the police station. A second suspect in the break-ins, Arthur Paul Summers, remains outstanding. Police are asking the public for tips leading to Summers' capture.
