Spelling of tech terms gets fuzzy Which form is correct? E-mail? email? e-mail? Email? I have seen it spelled in all forms. If email is not a proper noun, should it be capitalized? What does your style book say? -- Larry S., Jacksonville Our Associated Press Stylebook -- and stylebook is one word, by the way -- likes "e-mail." Webster's agrees. And yes, you can skip the capitalization: The "e" is short for electronic, a plain old adjective. Not all tech terms are as easily pinned down, unfortunately. Online is one word in the Mail Tribune and in the AP Stylebook, but it gets a hyphen from the Chicago Manual of Style, which acknowledges dissent among editors on the subject. Web site is two words to most folks, but sometimes it pops up as one. And yes, the W -- Web is short for World Wide Web -- is capitalized. And then there's Internet. Editors agree the reference to the network of computers should be capitalized, but their logic is a little fuzzy. Anybody got a headache yet?
