Police cited and released George A. Parker, 34, of the 300 block of Savage Creek Road on Thursday on charges of disorderly conduct and initiating a false report. The FBI and Rogue River police started a joint investigation after a man called the mill and 9-1-1 around 10:30 p.m. July 15 and said there was a bomb at the mill, Chief Ken Lewis said. When officers arrived, Parker, a temporary millworker, told them he had seen a man with a backpack running from the mill. Several hours later, Parker reported that a man with a backpack attacked him in a dark hallway in the mill, knocking him unconscious, denting his hard hat and dragging him into a small alcove. Parker was taken by ambulance to Three Rivers Community Hospital, where he was treated and released. Investigators discovered that Parker has a history of making questionable reports to law enforcement agencies about being assaulted by strangers, Lewis said. He then seeks medical treatment for supposed injuries. Lewis said police think Parker may be a "drug seeker" and probably concocted the bomb threats and assault story toward that end. Parker is set to appear Jan. 12 in Jackson County Circuit Court on the charges.
