Lava Lanes strikes fancy in Montana Where is Lava Lanes being built? I read the story on your Web page, but it did not give the location. -- Paul P., Amsterdam, Montana Since you're not exactly in the neighborhood, Paul, we'll excuse you for not noticing the rather large building under construction south of Crater Lake Highway just between Whittle Avenue and Delta Waters Road. Lava Lanes, a 40-lane "state-of-the-art" bowling center, is due to open in August (just in time for the fall bowling leagues) at a cost of about $7 million. The 50,000-square-foot center will include a full-service restaurant, a large arcade and a sports bar complete with 48 television sets. In a departure from traditional lanes, smoking will be allowed only in the sports bar, developers have said.
