The burglar targeted the 200 block of East Main Street, breaking into shops and then kicking through interior walls to enter adjacent businesses, Ashland police Sgt. Jim Alderman said. Other nearby locations were also broken into, he said. At 264 E. Main St., Kixx and Travel Essentials were both burgled, he said. A watch was reported stolen at Kixx and $100 cash was reported stolen from Travel Essentials. The suspect apparently broke into Kixx and then moved on to Travel Essentials from inside, reports said. Alderman said the burglar also broke through a wall into Silk Road Trading Co. at 296 E. Main St. A 4-foot by 6-foot wool rug valued at $1,800 and $400 cash were reported stolen. The burglar also broke a window to enter the Oregon Shakespeare Festival welcome center at 108 E. Main St. A 1970s women’s bicycle valued at $200 was reported stolen from a display, Alderman said. The Oregon Cabaret Theatre at 241 Hargadine St., also was broken into. The burglar smashed a stained-glass window valued at $1,000 to enter the theater, rummaged inside the building, but apparently found nothing of interest. Nothing was reported stolen, Alderman said. A broken window and some damage inside also was reported at Allen Drescher’s law office at 21 S. Second St., Alderman said. Police believe the burglaries are connected. Travel Essentials, Kixx and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s Angus Bowmer Theater were burgled about a month ago. Alderman said those cases are still under investigation. He didn’t think the string of crimes reported Wednesday was related to the previous cases, although police haven’t contacted any suspects in the October burglaries.
