Whatever happened in that guy’s case? — No name provided, via phone message You’re thinking of the case of Foy James Chandler, 54, who was sentenced last month to 10 years in prison following convictions for second-degree assault and felon in possession of a firearm stemming from a Feb. 8 parking lot shooting outside an east Medford video poker lounge. For those just tuning in, Chandler and the victim got into a verbal dispute at 7:40 p.m. inside the Purple Parrot in the 2000 block of Biddle Road. The dispute escalated outside the business. The victim tried to leave in his vehicle, but Chandler reportedly pulled behind him. The victim next noticed a laser light being shined on him through the back window; he ducked, and a bullet shattered the window, according to earlier news reports. The following day, Medford police, the U.S. Marshals Service and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT tracked Chandler to a residence in Gold Hill, where he was taken into custody. Chandler pleaded guilty to felony assault and weapons charges in October, Jackson County Circuit Court records show. The following month, Circuit Court Judge Pro Tem Paul Moser sentenced Chandler to 120 months — 10 years — of which 70 months are not eligible for any alternative incarceration programs or early release. The remaining four years and two months of Chandler’s sentence will be eligible for earned time, as well as any programs the Department of Corrections deems appropriate.
