GAMES OF THE WEEK: INSIDE TIPS FOR: N64 AND GAME BOY COLOR By Chip and Jonathan Carter Tribune Media Services Time for some more of those wonderful tips, tricks and codes that you know you just can't get enough of: MARIO PARTY, FOR N64 -- We know this one comes from the "Duh!" category, but if you haven't thought of it, you'll thank us! Fill Mushroom Bank easily. Every time players complete a game, the stars and coins from each human player are put into the Mushroom Bank. However, if computer players are filling in, those coins and stars are lost. An easy trick to accumulate lots of stars and coins is to switch all players to human in the last round of the game. (You can do this by pausing and accessing the options menu.) Complete the board and you will be able to keep all the stars and coins. THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: THE OCARINA OF TIME, FOR N64 -- We're gonna give you all the tips that fit, here. For more, visit our Web site at http://vgames.webpoint.com/vid/animalhouse/mainpage/ . To get a fourth bottle to hold potions and other goodies, as adult Link, capture 10 big Poes and sell 'em to the nasty goblin guy in Hyrule Village. When you find a small hole in the ground -- the kind that looks perfect for planting magic beans -- drop a bug in the hole before you plant a bean. A gold skulltula will crawl out ... but not if you've already planted a bean. Stand in front of any cow and play Epona's Song and you'll get a free bottle of Lon Lon milk. To learn magic spells and get other goodies, you need to find all the Great Faeries. Look for 'em in these spots: On Top of Death Mountain, place a bomb next to the sign to open a secret door. You'll learn the Magic Spin Slash. Follow the Hyrule Castle road straight to a dead end. Bomb the rock at the end and you'll learn Den's Fire. In Zora's Fountain, go right until you find an island. Bomb the rock wall and you'll learn Farore's Wind. There are three others -- we'll see if you can find 'em on your own. If not, don't worry ... they're on our Web site, and we'll print 'em here soon. Wear the Mask of Truth when you check out the Gossip Stones that serve as clocks for some secret tips! Play Zelda's Lullaby, Epona's Song or the Song of Storms next to a Gossip Stone and you'll get a red fairy. When you meet the scarecrow at Lake Hylia as a young man, show him your Ocarina. He'll ask you to play a song. Create one, and remember it. When you go back as an adult, play the song again and you'll get a great treat. Curious about all those fluttering butterflies? Touch one with a Deku stick and it turns into a fairy! THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: LINK'S AWAKENING DX, FOR GAME BOY COLOR -- Here are a couple of great money making tricks. In the crane game, you can get any item you want by following these simple instructions: Position the crane over the upper left corner of the belt, then wait until the item you want reaches the halfway point between the upper and lower right corners. You can repeat this as often as you like, piling up rupees by the score! And if you want to save money when buying items, try this. When the shopkeeper is deducting the rupees from your account, press start, select, A and B at the same time. Choose the "save and quit" option, then reload the game. You'll have the item and all your original rupees! TUROK 2: SEEDS OF EVIL, FOR GAME BOY COLOR -- Here are some tricks for one of the best GB titles ever: To access all weapons enter the password DLVTRKBWPS; for a secret "bird" mode enter DLVTRKBBRD; for infinite lives enter DLVTRKBLVS; for invincibility enter DLVTRKBNRG; to skip levels, enter DLVTRKBLVL. And use these passwords to get to various levels: 2 -- DVYLWKVYTQ; 3 -- GRYLWKWVCZ; 4 -- DRYLSRWVZN; 5 -- GVZLSRWQLS; 6 -- DVZLBVSQLN; 7 -- GRZLBVBQLL; 8 -- DRZLBVBQLN; 9 -- GVYNBVBQGD For more tips, tricks, reviews and news, check us out on-line at http://chitrib.webpoint.com/vgames/ .
