SINCE YOU ASKED Since You Asked: Detectives still searching for scruffy kidnapper Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Dec. 26, 2014 at 12:01 AM Posted Dec. 26, 2014 at 12:01 AM » Social News About a week ago, the TV news reported that a jogger had been kidnapped from Johns Peak Road by Old Military Road. The report noted that the abducted woman was found in torn clothing in a barn in Jacksonville sometime later. Since we live in the area, we've been looking for a follow-up but haven’t heard another word. Was the perp ever found? And was the abducted woman’s story fully verified? — Lupe McHenry It’s been more than a month since the 42-year-old Medford woman reported that she had been kidnapped while jogging on Johns Peak Road in Central Point, and local law enforcement agencies are still trying to identify the suspect, described as a thin, scruffy-looking, white male with facial hair. However, the events of the day are still under investigation, and unfortunately, the victim and witnesses are not making themselves available for follow-up interviews, said Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Nathan Sickler. “The victim is not being fully cooperative at this time, but that’s not to say none of this occurred,” Sickler said. “We are still investigating it with all our resources.” Because the case is still open, Sickler declined to release the woman’s name and any additional details about the case. The woman was on her phone at the time of the incident, and the person on the other end heard a struggle and reported it to police. Search and Rescue, detectives and patrol officers were called to the scene, and the woman was later located several miles away from the scene after she had gotten a ride from a third party from an undisclosed location. Sickler said detectives have run down some leads but “just haven’t had any luck yet.” Send questions to “Since You Asked,” Mail Tribune Newsroom, P.O.
