Woman allegedly used lamp, candleholder in attacks Sonja Hayward Wednesday Oct 26, 2016 at 5:33 PM Oct 26, 2016 at 5:33 PM A Central Point woman faces charges after allegedly assaulting a man with a lamp and a woman with a candleholder. Sonja Merina Hayward, 31, of the 2300 block of Tulane Avenue in Central Point, entered not guilty pleas Wednesday to charges of second- and fourth-degree assault. On Oct. 6, Hayward was allegedly involved in a physical domestic fight at her home with the man when she threw a glass lamp at him. The lamp struck him on the eyebrow, causing a deep laceration, according to a probable cause affidavit. Hayward also allegedly struck another woman in the arm with the candleholder, causing a bruise, the affidavit said. She was arrested and lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $100,000 bail. Hayward has a pre-trial conference hearing scheduled on Nov. 28 in Jackson County Circuit Court, court records show.
