Kyle Anthony Trautmann, 21; Darren Rolf Trautmann, 20; and Michael Robert McCann, 22, all of La Habra, Calif., are scheduled to stand trial on Aug. 10 in Jackson County Circuit Court. The trial was initially set for Tuesday. The three have pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree assault and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery. If convicted, each faces a minimum sentence of seven and a half years in prison under Oregon’s mandatory sentencing law. Students of Biola University in La Mirada, the three stayed at Callahan’s near Interstate 5’s Siskiyou Summit after a snowstorm closed the pass the evening of Nov. 2. The inn’s rooms were all rented to stranded travelers, but employees let the men sleep on a couch while waiting for the freeway to re-open. At about 3 a.m., a lodge employee caught three men stealing several bottles of liquor from the bar, investigators said. When the employee tried to stop them, they hit him over the head with a bottle, stabbed his hand with a piece of broken glass, kicked him and ran off, police said. He was treated at Ashland Community Hospital. A witness recalled one of the suspects was wearing a Biola University sweatshirt. Detectives contacted the school and were able to identity the suspects with information they had gleaned from other witnesses, said Capt. Joe Puckett of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department. The Trautmanns are originally from Mill Creek in the Everett, Wash., area. McCann listed La Habra as his home address. The three were booked into the Jackson County Jail following their arrest in Los Angeles County. They are free on bail.
