No charges filed in crash that killed 11-year-old girl Friday Feb 24, 2017 at 5:03 PM Feb 24, 2017 at 5:03 PM Local report No criminal charges will be filed against a Gold Hill woman who crashed her car in November, killing her 11-year-old daughter. The Jackson County District Attorney's Office said today there is insufficient evidence to prove that Christina Marie Hudson, 37, acted in a criminally negligent or reckless manner in causing the death of Reese Hudson, 11. Christina Hudson was driving her daughter to Patrick Elementary School in Gold Hill at about 7:40 a.m. Nov. 16, 2016, when she lost control of her white Chevrolet Tahoe on a sweeping right curve on Galls Creek Road, which was wet at the time, the DA's Office said. Her car struck a large fir tree and rolled, coming to rest upside down in Galls Creek. Witnesses helped Hudson out of the vehicle and she was transported to a local hospital. Reese, however, was pinned inside and was dead when responders pulled her free. Hudson told police her dog had climbed into the front seat, causing her to lose control of the car. Investigators found the dog wandering at the scene and returned it to the family. Sheriff's detectives and investigators from the Jackson County Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction team collected evidence and created a reconstruction of the crash with help from Hudson's testimony at the hospital. Tests on Hudson's blood determined she was not intoxicated by any controlled substances, a release from the DA's Office said. Though Hudson likely was driving over the speed limit, "it was not at such a high rate of speed as to make her driving criminally negligent or reckless," the release said. "The incident on November 16, 2016, was a terrible unfortunate accident that will forever affect Mrs. Hudson's family," the release said.
