The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man they say pistol-whipped a 19-year-old man in Wimer on Friday. Eddie Joseph Correia, Jr., a 34-year-old transient from Grants Pass, allegedly pointed a gun at a 19-year-old around 8 p.m. that night at the Wimer Family Market, 8816 E. Evans Creek Road, according to a news release. Deputies were dispatched at 8:04 p.m. following a report of an assault in the area. “The caller reported a man armed with a handgun ‘pistol whipped’ the victim in the parking lot,” the release says. Deputies believe a woman identified as 29-year-old Lindsey Anne Jordan also struck the victim. It is not known what started the fight, but deputies believe Correia was the aggressor. The victim knew Jordan but was not acquainted with Correia, police said. The victim went to a local hospital, where he was treated for facial injuries, then released. After the alleged assault, both Correia and Jordan fled in a white Dodge pickup with a broken rear window. They drove to a home “associated with Jordan” in the 6900 block of East Evans Creek Road, the release said. A deputy later arrested Jordan as she tried to leave the home in another vehicle and lodged her in the Jackson County Jail on a third-degree assault charge. Deputies served a search warrant on the home in an effort to track Correia down, but were unsuccessful. They believe he fled to a wooded area before the deputies arrived, the release said. Deputies did locate a firearm, but it has not yet been confirmed whether it was the same weapon used in the assault, the release said. Sheriff’s department SWAT assisted “because Correia was reportedly armed and has a criminal history involving firearms,” it said. Court records show Correia has been convicted of methamphetamine possession, felon in possession of a firearm, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and attempt to elude a police officer. He also has a statewide felony arrest warrant out for violating the terms of his post-prison supervision. Police believe Correia later returned to the home and fled again in the white Dodge truck. That vehicle was located at 3 a.m. Saturday on Pinegrove Road about a mile away. Correia is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 245 pounds. He has several tattoos, including ones on both eyelids and the number “13 1/2” on his throat. Anyone who spots Correia should not approach him but contact police with his whereabouts.
