Investigators said heroin addictions likely drove Jeremiah David Petrey, 21, of the 1200 block of Woodrow Lane, Medford, and Michael Dennis Bobbett, 22, no address listed, to commit three robberies in July and August. Police allege that the two robbed a Subway at 1250 Crater Lake Ave. early the morning of July 9. A witness described the robbers as wearing black clothing and black masks and wielding a large, curved knife. They demanded money and left with less than $100. One man, again masked and clad in black and carrying some sort of knife, robbed the same 24-hour sandwich shop early on July 13. Investigators suspect this was Bobbett acting alone this time. Again the robber got less than $100, police said. On Aug. 12, just before 7 p.m., a man dressed in black and wearing a black ski mask robbed the Mini Pet Mart, 1100 Crater Lake Ave. The clerk at the store told police the robber carried a sickle, a large knife-like implement with a curved blade that had some rust stains on it. Investigators suspect this was Bobbett again. On Aug. 15, police got a call from someone who had found clothing and a sickle in some bushes near the intersection of McAndrews Road and Oleander Street. Detectives believe the clothing and weapon were used in the three robberies, Medford police said in a news release today. Police recently got a tip about the robbery suspects, then identified Petrey and Bobbett, the release said. At about 2:39 p.m. Tuesday, Medford police detectives came across Petrey at the corner of McAndrews Road and Crater Lake Avenue and arrested him without incident. At about 8 p.m. Tuesday, an officer found Bobbett walking through the Medford Center and arrested him. Both men were interviewed and lodged in the Jackson County Jail on robbery charges. Petrey remains in jail today on a first-degree robbery charge, with bail set at $1 million.
