Top-seeded wrestlers Tommy Winningham (182 pounds) and Cavin Gillispie (195) led the charge for the Comets, with No. 3 seed Zeth Brower (106), Logan Meek (152), Beau Crawford (220) and Javon Gill (285) also advancing at the 35-team event. For North Medford, No. 2 seeds Henry Cox (120) and Cole Hornbrook (152) went undefeated on Friday, along with Luke Mackey (145), Louis Dix (160) and Nicholas Winetrout (170). Crater stands fifth in the team race with 66 points, while North Medford is seventh (60) and Grants Pass tied for 11th (45). Only a half-point separated first-place Roseburg (84.5) and Crook County (84), with Redmond (73) and David Douglas (68.5) also ahead of Crater. Eagle Point is 13th (39.5). Eagle Point’s Bryan O’Neil dominated his two matches Friday to advance as the No. 4 seed at 160, with teammates Gage Graves (182) and Joseph Garcia (195) also moving on to the championship quarterfinals. Phoenix placed two wrestlers into the quarterfinals in No. 2 seed Trace Vega (220) and No. 3 seed Cedar King (145), while second-seeded Justin Knight was an upset victim against Humberto Ruiz of Redmond in the second round and dropped to the consolation bracket. Grants Pass still has five wrestlers alive in the championship bracket in No. 2 seed Dane Backes (113), No. 4 seed Tyler Bellon (120), Barrett Titus (106), Trajan Hurd (160) and James Jarrett (220). Illinois Valley and Hidden Valley each advanced one wrestler to the quarterfinals, with No. 4 seed Dillion St. Onge (113) for the Cougars and Brandon Wrezinski (195) for the Mustangs.
