Oregon forestry crews sent to fight wine country fires Oct 11, 2017 12:00 AM A A Local Oregon Forestry Department employees are in California wine country assisting with firefighting efforts. Four ODF fire engines with two-person crews arrived in the North Bay area Tuesday to help with wildfires that have been ravaging parts of that state. ODF's Southwest and Klamath-Lake districts bordering California sent the crews as part of a mutual fire aid agreement. Two of the engines came from Grants Pass, one from Klamath Falls and one from Medford. A ninth ODF employee also went from Medford in a support role. More than a dozen wind-driven wildfires led to a declared fire emergency in three counties — Napa, Sonoma and Yuba. The ODF teams will be deployed where the incident command deems they are most needed.
