When that snow might arrive was anyone’s guess on Monday. Forecasters couldn’t see any snow at all when they peered into their computers’ seven-day forecast. "It’s gonna be sometime next week at the earliest," said Murray Orr, of the National Weather Service’s office in Medford. An early-season storm dumped nearly 3 feet of snow on the mountain Nov. 8-10, but that snow had compressed and condensed to less than 2 feet by the time 3 inches of new snow fell Saturday. Mount Ashland had about 26 inches of snow on the ground near the lodge on Monday. The resort typically needs about 3 feet of snow to open, said marketing director Gene Landsmann. It plans to open Nov. 27 if there is enough snow.
