Receptions with goodies such as appetizers, desserts, wine and other beverages will be offered during receptions at the galleries. Visitors to the art walk could start at the Rogue Gallery & Art Center, 40 S. Bartlett St., for a look at a collection of paintings by a group of artists from Studio Sfumato. " 'Feed the Soul' is an exhibit created for artists with disabilities and features 19 works by Studio Sfumato artists and others," says Marie Conte, manager of Studio Sfumato. "The show, created by local Sfumato artist Cynthia Flowers, explores what nurtures the artistic spirit and enhances the creative process for each artist." Studio Sfumato works at the Rogue Gallery & Art Center and at its studio location at 121 N. Central Ave., Medford. Community members may become involved with the group through teaching, support or mentoring. Call 772-1503. Most of the artists who participated in "Feed the Soul" will be on hand to discuss their work at a reception to be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Punch and cookies will be served. — The exhibit will be displayed through the month of August on the featured exhibit wall at the Rogue Gallery. "The Raven Coast," a collection of acrylic paintings by Portland artist Robert C. Douglas Jr., will be displayed through Saturday, Aug. 26, in the Rogue Gallery's main gallery. Douglas' work explores the relationship between the indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest coast and their close ties to the land, sea and their creation myths. Rogue Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to — p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to — p.m. Saturday. Call 772-8118 or see roguegallery.org on the Web. Just a few doors down from the Rogue Gallery, visitors may discover AMBUS Contemporary Art Gallery, 21 N. Bartlett St. AMBUS Art Galley features works by contemporary women artists. The group moved from Jacksonville to its new location in Medford in February. AMBUS offers watercolor paintings by Virginia Andrade, stained glass by Darla Baack, paintings in mixed media by Eileen Bowie and Dianne Erickson, paintings and sculpture by Janet E. Higgins, sculpture and woodblock prints by Nancy Jo Mullen, papier-m& 226;ch& 233; sculpture and masks by Lisa D. Peterson, watercolor paintings by Alice Stambaugh and encaustic paintings by Meloney Quady. "We love the location," says Erickson. "We're right next to the parking garage, and there's a lot of foot traffic." Two artists have joined the gallery since it moved to downtown Medford. They are fiber artist Janette Merriman and clay artist Eileen Goldwyn. An exhibit titled "Offensive and Obscene: Revisiting the Feminine," display of paintings, sculpture, found images and writings by AMBUS member Quady, will be presented through Sept. 2. A reception for the artist will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18. "The food will be hot and spicy to compliment the theme of the featured exhibit," Erickson says. AMBUS Art Gallery's regular hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Call 245-3800. Leave AMBUS, take a left-hand turn and enter a brick-lined alley to find Art du Jour Gallery, 320 Middleford Alley. Portraits and folk art in watercolor and oil by Alice Zelina Berger will be displayed through the month of August at Art du Jour. Berger studied at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles and has also worked for costume companies in California. She lives in Eagle Point and is a member of the Upper Rogue Artists. "Alice has shown her work at exhibits in the Rogue Valley and throughout the State of California," says Margo Garnett, one of the managing members of the gallery. "She participates in local events such as River ArtWalk and Daffodil Daze in Shady Cove. She's 81 and remarkably active," says Garnett. Berger will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, to discuss her work. A reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Appetizers and beverages will be served. Art du Jour features various works in watercolor, acrylic, pastel, oil, mixed media, pen and ink, collage and sculpture by members Garnett, Tony Antonides, Patty Drake, Shari O'Neil Young, Dick Woods, Ruth Schubert, Marianne Kauffman, Paula Cooper, Sherrill Brumbach, Yvonne Kitchen, Ruth Heath and Bob Faulkner. A new member, Garland Arnaud, recently joined the gallery, and Judy Hueler will be joining the gallery in September. Regular hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Call 770-3190.
