And its timing couldn’t be any better. Playing in their 11th game away from their home court, the Pirates (8-6, 2-0 Skyline) defeated Mazama 56-44 Monday night, with another road game looming tonight. "We came over here and did a good job on the road," Phoenix coach Kevin Dixon said. "We were a little shaky off the bus, but we got running in the second half and played with a lot more intensity." The Vikings led by five after the first quarter, but Phoenix rallied behind Justin Krafft’s 26-point effort. Seventeen of those points came in the fourth quarter after he switched from point guard to wing. Dustin Smith had six assists in Krafft’s place at the point. "Justin did a great job in the second half for us," Dixon said. "And Dustin played great defensively for us." Phoenix held all of Mazama’s scorers in single digits. Mike Saltenberger led the Vikings with nine points. Advertisement The Pirates shot 49 percent from the floor, but committed 18 turnovers. The game was a makeup for Friday’s contest, which was snowed out. Phoenix travels to Rogue River today in a battle of Skyline unbeatens.
