Bike and Boat Swap set at armory Saturday ASHLAND -- Things that float as well as things to ride are part of the Bike and Boat Swap set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the National Guard Armory, 1420 E. Main St. Sponsored by the Ashland Schools Foundation, the swap is a place to shop for new and used canoes, kayaks, driftboats and sailboats as well as bikes, in-line skates, skateboards and accessories. Boats were added to the swap just this year. The event also will feature a trick riding demonstration by professional bike competitor Jeremy Van Schoonhoven. A raffle at 11:30 a.m. will give away five new bikes, a Tahiti inflatable raft and other prizes. Tickets are $1 and available at schools and at Nimbus, 44 N. Main St. There will be two check-ins for people with equipment to sell: bikes only from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at Medford Cycle Sport, 1340 Biddle Road; and any used items from noon-8 p.m. Friday at the armory in Ashland. A processing fee, based on the value of each item, will be assessed at both check-ins. A portion of the swap proceeds benefit the foundation, which provides funds for projects and programs at Ashland's seven public schools. Co-sponsors are Cycle Sport, Siskiyou Cyclery, Sims Cycle & Fitness, Low Down Boards, University Cycle, city of Ashland and the Oregon National Guard. Volunteers are also needed to work the swap. Anyone interested in helping out, or those needing more information, can call the foundation, 482-8197. Mail Tribune Copyright The Mail Tribune 1999, Medford, Oregon USA
