Their separation was revealed in court on Monday, as part of the proceedings Howard is enmeshed in with his second wife, Michelle Ghent, who is suing him for assault . Pak, 38, filed for divorce from Howard in March, despite being pregnant with her and Howard's first child. (Their son Qirin was born in May.) In the filing, she claimed irreconcilable differences and noted that she and the Empire star had been separated since last August. Their divorce was finalized on July 27, according to the Daily News . Fall TV Preview: Get hot scoop on Empire and other returning shows Meanwhile, on July 29, Ghent filed a lawsuit against Howard for assault and battery, claiming he punched, kicked and strangled her while they were on vacation in Costa Rica in the summer of 2013. Earlier this year, Howard sued Ghent , who has a restraining order against him, for extortion. Pak has appeared by Howard's side throughout the court proceedings with Ghent. She and Howard were married in October 2013. Days later, he called Ghent and told her, "I will never love someone like I loved you," according to a recording that was played in court on Monday.
